St. Louis, MO – PEG, a leading vertically integrated owner, developer, and operator of residential and hospitality assets across the United States and Canada, today announced the grand reopening of MainStay Suites St. Louis – Galleria, a Choice Hotels brand. Following a top-to-bottom renovation and rebranding effort, the extended-stay property now enters a new era under new leadership, enhanced service standards, and a completely modernized physical footprint.
Originally built in 1986 as a Gen1 Residence Inn by Marriott, the 152-key property was acquired by PEG in Fall 2018 and operated under the Marriott brand until April 2024, when the transformation began. Today, the reimagined MainStay Suites emerges as a revitalized, affordable-yet-elevated option, tailored specifically to longer-term travelers in the St. Louis area.
Located at 8011 Galleria Parkway in the thriving Richmond Heights neighborhood, the property spans 19 buildings and offers spacious one- and two-bedroom apartment-style suites with full kitchens and separate living areas. These accommodations are designed to meet the needs of traveling nurses, construction professionals, relocating families, and other extended-stay guests seeking a home-like experience.
The renovation project touched every aspect of the hotel, both inside and out. Guests are now greeted by a newly redesigned lobby featuring modern furniture, updated lighting, and refreshed finishes including new carpet, paint, countertops, and fixtures. All guest rooms were outfitted with brand-new furniture, fresh paint, and upgraded amenities. Behind the scenes, PEG invested heavily in infrastructure upgrades, including major HVAC and plumbing improvements, ensuring lasting comfort and efficiency.
The exterior of the property also received a full makeover, including a comprehensive repaint, large-scale concrete restoration, and a full slurry seal of the parking lot. Modern LED lighting fixtures were installed to boost energy efficiency and nighttime visibility, while all room locks were upgraded to RFID technology, replacing outdated magstripe systems. New signage was also installed to reflect the property’s new identity as a MainStay Suites.
“We’ve completely reimagined this property and are very pleased to have partnered with Choice Hotels to open this MainStay Suites Galleria,” said Chris Wilbourn, Regional Director of Operations for PEG’s Hospitality Management division. “This is our first time working with Choice, and we did so because we recognized the need in St. Louis for an extended-stay option that is both affordable and well-appointed. Whether you’re in town for work, waiting to move into a new home, or anything in between, our goal is to provide comfortable, flexible accommodations that meet your needs.”
With nearby access to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Cumberland Mall, downtown Clayton, and numerous corporate offices, the hotel’s location supports both convenience and connectivity. Onsite amenities—including a marketplace, fitness center, guest laundry facilities, outdoor pool, full-size basketball/tennis court, grilling area, and more—create a well-rounded experience for guests who need to stay longer and settle in.
As part of Choice Hotels’ growing MainStay Suites brand, the property joins a network of more than 80 independently owned and operated extended-stay locations across the country. Choice Hotels International, a global hospitality leader with over 7,000 hotels across all 50 U.S. states and more than 40 countries, continues to support its franchisees with robust resources and a proven brand platform.
Under new leadership, the MainStay Suites St. Louis – Galleria also represents a renewed commitment to service excellence. PEG has assembled an expanded, hospitality-focused team to deliver best-in-class guest experiences, reflecting the firm’s broader commitment to quality across its portfolio.
