St. George, Utah’s First Full-Service Luxury Boutique Hotel Opens for Operation

Part of Marriott’s prestigious Autograph Collection, the new ‘pioneer chic’ hotel promises a unique experience that is ‘exactly like nothing else.’

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah – Adorned with colorful local art, craftsman furniture, and eclectic pioneer décor, St. George City’s first full-service luxury boutique hotel The Advenire officially opened for business this week.

Developed and operated by Provo-based PEG Companies [PEG], The Advenire’s opening marks the next major milestone of the company’s $40+ million effort to redevelop nearly five acres in downtown St. George. In 2017, PEG opened The Shops at Green Gate Village, a neighboring retail project that preserved historic buildings for unique retail. In August 2019, PEG opened the first building of City View St. George Apartments, a multifamily community touted as a key step in revitalizing the City’s decades-long pursuit to revitalize the downtown core.

“As a Utah-based company, we believe that it is not only a privilege but also a responsibility to invest back into our great state,” said PEG Chief Executive Officer Cameron Gunter. “As early as 2013, we were working with Gary Esplin, former City Manager, tossing around ideas and formulating plans for how we could make a significant contribution to St. George’s rapidly expanding economy.”

“This mixed-use project is a welcome addition to our growing and increasingly more vibrant downtown,” said St. George Mayor Jon Pike. “This is a great combination of housing, retail, restaurant and hotel services — located in a strategically important area. Projects like these are extremely important for our city moving forward.”

Meaning “to arrive,” The Advenire’s name hearkens back to a time when weary travelers arrived at Erastus Snow’s Big House, which once stood across the street from the site to the east and served as the first guesthouse in the early days of St. George. Design elements of the 50,000 square foot, 60-room boutique hotel include Dixie dormer windows, tapestries resembling handmade rag rugs used by early settlers and other ‘pioneer chic’ touches that cultivate an authentic experience. Additionally, The Advenire boasts wood.ash.rye., a five-star restaurant and bakery featuring an approachable twist on American cuisine. The concept was created by Chef Shon Foster and Jason Neeley of the award-winning Sego Restaurant located in Kanab, Utah.

“The Autograph Collection is known for being ‘exactly like nothing else,’” said Cherie Davis, General Manager of The Advenire.St. George has a uniqueness all of its own, and there is no more appropriate place to bring the magic of The Advenire than to an incredible destination like St. George. Our team members are thrilled to be serving this city with extraordinary hospitality.”

Marriott International’s prestigious Autograph Collection is a line of about 180 one-of-a-kind hotels, each promising a truly unique experience. From The Advenire’s custom-made rammed earth lobby wall crafted from local soils and sediments to the hotel’s exceptional concierge professionals, guests will notice that every element of The Advenire was curated specifically for Southern Utah’s unique culture and vibe.

“The greater St. George area has been in need of a luxury full-service offering to cater to the diverse range of travelers attracted there as a destination. At The Advenire, guests from every walk of life will find something unique and inspiring. We look forward to welcoming our travelers and treating them to an experience like no other,” said Graydon Pearson, President/Chief Executive Officer of In-Group Hospitality: A PEG Company.

Project leaders are now planning a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the grand opening of The Advenire and City View St. George Apartments. The event, which will feature remarks from city dignitaries, tours, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment is scheduled for February 12th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

“Opening The Advenire is the culmination of a collaborative effort between St. George City and PEG to create a landmark at the center of the city.  It truly is St. George’s ‘Main and Main’ location, so the Historic Preservation Commission, Planning Commission, City Council, and staff wanted to make sure what was developed there was iconic and representative of their community,” said PEG Vice President of Development Matt Hansen, who has managed the entire project. “I think The Advenire is something we can all be proud of.”
