SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City – West Valley Opens for Business

The new 133-suite hotel brings an upscale hospitality option to the area, equipped with all the comforts and conveniences that modern travelers have come to expect in a post-COVID-19 environment.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – The highly anticipated SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City – West Valley officially opened its doors for business, Friday. Located at 3662 S. 2400 W. adjacent to the popular Valley Fair Mall, the 133-suite hotel stands as a critical anchor of West Valley City’s ‘New Downtown’ district.

Developed by Provo-based PEG Companies [“PEG”] with all the comforts and conveniences that modern travelers have come to expect in a post-COVID-19 environment, SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City – West Valley features mobile check-in services, spacious in-room work areas, a 24-hour market with “grab-and-go” options, same-day cleaning and laundry services; plus, enhanced sanitization and social distancing protocols. Additional amenities include spa-like bathrooms, an upscale fitness center, a spacious conference room and business center, speedy WiFi, and complimentary breakfast options.

“As Utah’s second largest municipality, West Valley City has continued to distinguish itself as a growing epicenter of energy and excitement,” said Robert Schmidt, president of PEG’s development group. “When the local community approached us with interest in developing a new hotel, we appreciated that trust and welcomed the opportunity to invest in an upscale hospitality offering that will attract business and leisure travelers, alike.”

“Our well-appointed and spacious rooms along with our proximity to Valley Fair Mall, Maverick Center, and Salt Lake City International Airport will set a high bar of excellence for others to follow…” added Joe Madera, Regional Director of Operations for the new hotel’s hospitality management company In-Group Hospitality: A PEG Company. “We look forward to serving the needs of the growing community.”

Despite the majority of construction on the project taking place during the global COVID-19 pandemic, project leaders pushed the project forward while keeping workers safe.

“When you are prepared for a storm, you can sleep when the wind blows,” remarked Johnny Hollingshead,” Project Manager for Layton Construction, who led project construction alongside PEG. “We anticipated adversity and mapped multiple plans to success so that, regardless of whichever road we took, we could predict the outcome.”

SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City – West Valley represents one of the first of many future additions to the 40-acre area encompassing several blocks south of 3500 South and west of Constitution Boulevard, known as Fairbourne Station. The long-term development undertaking will become the only mixed-use development in Utah that has within its footprint a City Hall, public library, police department, and courthouse. The project will also include nearly 25,000 square feet of additional retail, several Class-A office buildings, a public plaza, green space, and on-site UTA hub, with many other surrounding projects including multifamily housing and this hotel.
