Associate (Team Lead), Asset Management

Job summary

The Associate on the Asset Management team will assist in driving financial performance of the existing portfolio through detailed financial analysis and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. This position will require a thorough understanding of financial modeling, discounted cash flow analysis, investment return metrics, and the ability to grasp complex capital and waterfall structures. The individual coming into this role will be required to have strong presentation skills as there will be a high degree of exposure to senior and executive members of the organization. In addition to individual responsibilities this role will carry, they will also be required to serve as a team lead and mentor for the Analyst and Sr. Analyst team. As such, this role will be managerial in nature and will require the ability to lead and train a group of analysts on best practices, financial modeling, and investment management functions

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a team lead and mentor to the other Analysts and Sr. Analysts on the team
  • Develop, maintain, and improve complex portfolio cash flow models to develop strategic insights into how to optimize returns to PEG’s investors
  • Provide insights into financial performance of the portfolio by uncovering revenue and expense trends, modeling complex debt terms, working through waterfall structures, identifying areas for strategic growth, exploring opportunistic exit opportunities, etc.
  • Conduct monthly financial analysis into the performance of PEG’s portfolio to understand variances and trends both at the property level as well as the portfolio level
  • Prepare investor material for quarterly reporting, entity manager meetings, performance updates, capital calls, and any other external facing material
  • Assist in the distribution process by working with various departments throughout the organization, modeling returns based on waterfall structures, and creating distribution reports
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to facilitate good investment decision making
  • Work in coordination with Asset Management and Property Management to produce monthly cash flow forecasts for the portfolio properties
  • Manage the internal valuation process for PEG’s portfolio by running discounted cash flow models on a quarterly basis
  • Assist Asset Management in modeling disposition strategies of portfolio properties
  • Work alongside the Fund Management team to drive returns to fund investors

Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience underwriting commercial real estate (asset management, real estate finance, acquisitions, fund operations, etc.)
  • Expert Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Work well in a dynamic and growing company that is constantly evolving
  • Strong analytical/logical mind-set with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (clear, concise, and confident) with the ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Proactive and able to solve challenging problems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other STEM related field
