Job summary

The Hospitality Investment Analyst will be part of the team focused on providing underwriting, business plan creation, and execution of hotel investments. The analyst will perform the primary financial analysis, market research, and aggregation of information critical for investment decisions. The position will require an understanding of financial modeling, discounted cashflow analysis, investment return metrics, and the ability to create compelling investment pitch decks for internal and external stakeholders. The individual will support the Associate and Vice President in their responsibilities. The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. The analyst will work primarily on hospitality-related projects and thus an understanding of the hotel industry in some capacity is preferred; however, the analyst will also be used on other strategies including multifamily, build-for-rent, and various other ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

• Work efficiently through analysis of a constant flow of hotel development projects, acquisition opportunities, and asset management analysis, and effectively present the analysis to the team.
• Conduct thorough market analysis including detailed hotel demand (leisure, group, corporate), supply, SWOT/Hotel Penetration, demographic, and construction pricing, etc. Utilize your market findings to support your subject hotel projections.
• Own underwriting excel models for acquisition or development projects as assigned.
• Create investment committee presentations.
• Utilize your underwriting, market findings, benchmarking, and other relevant information to create professional level investment material.
• Prepare reporting for internal and external stakeholders including cash forecasts, distribution analysis, asset summaries, quarterly and annual investor letters, and other ad-hoc reports.
• Perform hold/sell analyses and other ad hoc exercises.
• Record meeting minutes as requested.
• Collaborate with team-members across the company to ensure accurate and efficient analysis and production of investment deliverables. This includes property operations, development, construction, accounting, and capital markets.
• Assist the closing process by tracking and maintaining diligence materials.
• Help ensure and track Debt Covenant compliance.
• Assist in due diligence process on land and hotel acquisitions.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience with real estate underwriting and valuation
• Ability to work well alone and with a team with little to no supervision in fast paced environments.
• Solid analytical/logical mind-set and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (clear, concise, and confident) with the ability to manage internal and external relationships.
• Proactive and able to solve problems.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• Graduate Degree (MBA, Finance) optional.
• Strong Microsoft office skills including specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
• Extremely accurate and detailed-oriented with strong administrative skills.
