Accounting Specialist

Job summary

Accounting Students and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. The accounting specialist role will primarily provide support to Staff 3, Senior accountants, and Assistant Controller over development accounting activities. This position provides a unique opportunity to learn accounting in real estate from one of Utah’s best real estate firms. You would be involved in the early stages of our projects, when just an idea, up through realization of large, revenue generating assets, such as hotels, multifamily, student housing, commercial, and office buildings. Additionally, as you learn and grow, opportunities for growth into a staff 2 position in one of our accounting segments may be available to you. Those segments include fund accounting, development accounting, property accounting, and corporate accounting.

  • Cash reconciliations
  • A/P and A/R reconciliations
  • Intercompany tie-outs
  • Data entry
  • Document gathering
  • Interest, depreciation, and amortization – schedule maintenance
  • Prepare data for entry into accounting system
  • Assist in asset capitalization
  • 0-1 years experience. Students and entry level encouraged to apply
  • Generalized understanding of accounting. E.g. debits and credits and how these affect types of accounts, such as asset, liability, equity, income, and expense accounts.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to focus on task until completion
  • Ability to think strategically and operate with extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must have a friendly, service oriented attitude as much of your time will be spent helping other teams and supporting their needs
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Willingness to jump in and learn processes and systems
  • Ability to leverage technology to enhance efficiency.


***Preference given to candidates with:


  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Experience with an accounting system
  • Experience in other accounting support roles, such as accounts payable.
